Sister Martha A. Leonard, Carmelite Nun, 83 of Toronto, OH, passed away on Wednesday July 29, 2026, in the Country Club Manor in Steubenville, OH.
Sister Martha was born on Sept. 14, 1942, in Toronto, daughter of the late Andrew A. and Martha (Trudics) Leonard. She was also preceded in by two brothers, Bob Leonard and William Cooper.
Sister Martha worked as a legal secretary for Kinsey-Albaugh & King Law firm for 28 yrs, before entering the convent in 1983, and becoming a Carmelite Nun.
Surviving are two sisters, Betty (Neil) Cich of Raleigh, NC, and Kathy (John) Penrod of Alliance, OH; four brothers, Andy Leonard of IL, Paul Cooper of Wintersville, OH, Don Cooper of Toronto, and Thomas Cooper of Alliance, OH, along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday August 2, from 1-4 p.m. at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, where a Panachida Service will be held Monday morning at 9:15 a.m. A Solemn Divine Liturgy will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Byzantine Church in Toronto. Rev. Father David Bosnic will celebrate, and burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery.
Martha's family would like to thank the staff of Country Club Manor for their care and kindness over the past 18 years and Valley Hospice during her final days.
