Tampa – Janet (Jan) Austin Mueller, 69, passed away on July 31, 2026. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Winfield Mueller, her sister, Diane E. Owens (Mt. Pleasant, SC) and her nephew, Dr. Max M. Owens (Emma), of Atlanta, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lowell and Patricia Austin.
Jan grew up in Weirton, WV, and graduated from Brooke High School. She earned her B.S. and M.S. in Urban Planning from Florida State University. She was an executive planner for Hillsborough County, Florida and a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.
Jan will be remembered for her kindness and faith, her sweet but feisty nature and her devotion to family and friends. She will be greatly missed and forever loved.
A celebration of her life will be held Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. at St. James United Methodist Church, Tampa. Friends are invited to attend and share their favorite stories about her.
