Suzanne "Suzie" Porter, 82, of Wintersville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Valley Hospice Care Center, surrounded by her loving family. Suzie was born on September 29, 1943, in Steubenville, the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Helen Yarosz Ighnat.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert "Bob" Porter in 2002. She is also preceded in death by her infant sister who died at birth, brother, Joseph Ighnat; brother-in-law, John Gugliemo; and her sister-in-law and best friend Judy Hetherington and brother-in-law, William Hetherington.
Susie was a proud 1961 graduate of Catholic Central High School. She and Bob were married on October 7, 1961, beginning a marriage and family that would become the center of her life.
She is survived by her three children: her daughter, Patty (Robert) Teramana of Steubenville; her son, Robert I. Porter Jr. of Wintersville; and her daughter Margaret Porter of Steubenville. She is also survived by her siblings, Barbara Gugliemo of Weirton, Becky (David) Sweda of Virginia, Nancy Ighnat Nicosia of Virginia, Pamela (David) LaRue of Steubenville, and David Ighnat of Hopedale.
Suzie worked for more than 30 years at The Louis Berkman Company, where she served as secretary to Mr. Berkman. Those who knew her can fondly remember calling the office and asking for "extension 20, please."
After retiring, Suzie, affectionately known as "Hubba", enjoyed spending her time with the people she loved most--her eight grandchildren (Alisha Teramana, Rebecca (Brad) Boring, Amanda (Joseph) Helms, Rachel (Alex) Lewis, Roberta (Bryan) Bowers, Mitchell Porter, Monica (Joey) Bodnar & Mason Porter), 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother. She never missed a birthday or anniversary and always made sure her loved ones knew they were remembered and loved them "a bushel and a peck, & a hug around the neck".
She will be deeply missed, but her family finds comfort knowing that she is once again with Bob and that the love they shared continues on through their family.
Calling hours will be held Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, with Father Michael Gossett as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
