Lorraine J. (Barazuol) Durante , 95, formally of Follansbee, WV, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at Tapestry Senior Living, Corapolis, PA under the care of the staff with the assistance of Advanced Hospice.
Lorraine was born on December 30, 1930 in Detroit, MI. She was the daughter of the late John and Rose (Gilardoni) Barazuol.
Lorraine was a graduate of Bridgeport High School Class of 1948. She received a bachelor of arts degree in education from West Liberty State College and would later complete a Masters degree in education from WVU.
She worked as a teacher for Brooke County Schools for over 20 years.
Lorraine was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Follansbee, she was a member of many organizations including: the Red Hat Ladies, the 20th Century Club, past president of GFW-WV, was awarded the Humanitarian of the Year by the City of Follansbee in 2009 and received the Tutor of the Year by the Brooke County Adult Literacy organization.
In addition to her parents, Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Durante Jr; brothers Arch Bezzozi and Joseph Marco and two brothers-in-law: Samuel Durante and Henry Durante.
Lorraine is survived by two children: John Durante of Phoenix, AZ and Margaret Rateau and her husband, Robert of Moon Twp., PA and two grandchildren: Marc Rateau and Chelsea Rateau- Cowan and her husband Ian, both of Moon Township PA and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, October 8, 2026 from 3:00- 7:00 PM with Vigil Service at 7:00 PM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304) 527-1717, where funeral will commence on Friday at 9:00 AM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 9, 2026 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Follansbee with Father Gerald Muoka, presiding.
Interment will follow at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1017 Jefferson Ave, Follansbee, WV or St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
