Tailgate with the Weirton United Way
The Weirton United Way is heading into the final stretch for its 2019 campaign, with one last fundraiser event scheduled for this weekend.
The annual Big Game Tailgate will be held Saturday at the Pepsi-Cola Roadhouse, just off the Burgettstown exit of U.S. Route 22. It promises to be a great evening, with music, games, prizes and more. Tickets are still on sale, and can be obtained by contacting the United Way’s office.
Now in its ninth year, the Tailgate has become one of the United Way’s biggest fundraisers, and one of its most popular, with hundreds of ticket-holders attending each year.
Attendees are encouraged to come dressed in the colors of their favorite football team, no matter who might be playing in the big game the next day.
Of course, we can’t forget what this campaign is all about. Funds raised through this year’s campaign will benefit the United Way’s local member agencies, all of which provide services for residents throughout Hancock and Brooke counties.
Without this annual campaign, many of these programs, providing health care services, utility assistance, youth programs, literacy programs, emergency assistance, clothing and food distributions, and more would not be available.
We thank the Weirton United Way for its continuing efforts to support the community, and encourage the community to continue showing its support for this organization.
