Restaurants earn our regard, help
It is at times like these that we learn who our real friends are. Here in our area, some of them happen to be the people whose finances have been affected most severely by the COVID-19 crisis — restaurants and other businesses involved in food service.
As we have reported, many of them have stepped up to the plate and smashed home runs by enormous donations to food banks and offers to help the homebound with meals.
Many restaurants continue to offer take-out food. If you feel comfortable in ordering some, we encourage you to do so. Take note of the extraordinary measures restaurant owners and staff are taking to safeguard customers’ health.
Once this is over, we all ought to celebrate with an extended period of eating out — whether we normally patronize restaurants or not. While they are hurting, many of them are trying to help the rest of us. That needs to be remembered.
