Continue support for Weirton United Way
The Weirton United Way is planning one of its biggest fundraisers of the year, although, as with everything else in the last year, there will be a twist.
The 10th-annual Tailgate fundraiser has been scheduled for Feb. 6, and tickets are on sale.
Typically, this event would feature an evening of music, food, games and prizes, with attendees encouraged to dress in the colors of their favorite professional football team.
This year, as a result of COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no mass gathering, no buffet-style food selections, and little festive atmosphere. Instead, United Way officials are taking the event “virtual,” putting together a live stream of prize drawings for area residents.
While we know it’s not ideal, we hope to see support continue for the United Way through this event and their continuing efforts of the campaign year.
For those interested in participating in the Virtual Tailgate, tickets may be purchased for $10 each, with each ticket providing a chance for a variety of prizes, including gift baskets, gift cards and other goodies.
The Weirton United Way supports several area organizations, each of which works to provide valuable services to our community. Each of these organizations has seen an increase in need during the last year as our region, and the country, were affected by the pandemic. They all are in need of support, and that’s why this campaign year it is more important than ever for our community to rally behind them and the Weirton United Way.
