A long-standing celebration of local arts and crafts, as well as the region's music and culture is returning to its roots this weekend.
Music and Art at Oak Glen is set for this Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m., with a full slate of live music, performances and more. Previously known as Montani Semper Liberi Music and Art, the festival brought both local and national musical acts, as well as artists and crafters to Oak Glen High School for a celebration of the arts. It was a big success for five years
As a result of COVID, organizers found a way to continue the tradition through periodic concerts and events, often outdoors or with smaller gatherings, in New Cumberland and Chester. Now, it is going back to where it all started.
Headlining Saturday's activities will be performances by The Labra Brothers, Pierce Dipner and his Band, and The Conkle Brothers, all on the stage of Oak Glen's Little Theatre. There also will be tribute performances in memory of long-time local artists John Edwards, Bob Walker and Kelsey Hayward. Other performances will be provided by the Blind Colours Band from Lincoln Park Charter School, the Oak Glen Recorder Ensemble, the Beaver Local Jazz Ensemble, the Oak Glen Little Theatre cast of "The Addams Family," and the Oak Glen Middle School Chorus, as well as several area youth.
In addition, more than 30 vendors, featuring handmade crafts, artwork, food items and more will be available, all from local residents and businesses.
As we enter the warmer months of the year, more of our community events are going to be appearing on the calendar. What better way to kick off some of those activities than with a celebration of our arts and culture?
