West Virginia voters will be heading to the polls Tuesday to make their selections for the state's primary election.
We will, of course, be asked to cast votes for partisan nominees for president, members of Congress, West Virginia governor and other high-level candidates.
We also will be offered selections for a variety of local offices, including county commission, county board of education, sheriff, magistrate and more. Let's not forget about our legislative representatives, either.
Hundreds of you may already have cast your ballots through the state's early voting process, and it's understandable that with several of the races essentially unopposed, it might not seem like a priority to show up on Election Day. We hope you still make the decision to show up, though.
We have a responsibility as voters to make our voices heard in our governmental process, and one of the main ways we do that is through the election process.
By voting, we select those we would deem worthy of representing us within our governmental systems. If we feel someone is doing a good job, we have the option to continue voting for them. If not, we select someone else.
It is up to all of us to remain vigilant; to pay attention to the words and actions of our elected officials and those who would like to hold those seats. Do they hold up to the promises they have made to you as your representative? Are they making the decisions to benefit your community, your state or your country?
This is the time to let them know your thoughts on their work.
Take the time Tuesday to go to your assigned polling location and let your voice be heard.
