Whether you're looking for the chance to spend some quality time with friends and family, an opportunity to make some new friends or just trying to find something special to do during the next several months, you need only look at the many fairs and festivals that are scheduled to be held throughout the Tri-State Area.

Their themes vary widely, and events held across our region feature activities for people of all ages. You can find many listed in the special section that will be included with Monday's newspaper.

Consider a random sample:

• The life of Dean Martin, the legendary entertainer who was born in Steubenville, will be celebrated Thursday, Friday and Saturday with activities centered the Spot Bar. Events also are planned for Historic Fort Steuben, Beatty Park, the Jefferson County Historical Museum and other sites in the area.

• The Juneteenth holiday will be celebrated this weekend with several events planned. That includes the annual Juneteenth Festival that will be held Friday and Saturday at Second Baptist Church in Steubenville. It will include food, music and fun, while offering a chance to commemorate the day emancipation of enslaved African Americans.

• Thunder in the Ville returns to the Jefferson County Airpark on June 28-29.

• Follansbee will hold its annual Community Days celebration July 12-14.

• St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Weirton will hold its 61st-annual peach festival on Aug. 10.

• The Toronto Art Festival will be held Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.

• The Wellsburg Applefest is set for Oct. 4-6.
