Continuing a peach of a tradition

1 min read

For 61 years, the annual Peach Festival has been a mainstay for the St. Thomas Episcopal Church and the Weirton community.

That tradition will continue Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., as the church offers a variety of peach-centered treats, along with sandwiches and other refreshments, with a variety of attractions and entertainment also in the works.

This year, that includes a classic automobile show, vendors, an inflatable attraction for the kids, and more.

Area residents will be able to stop by Saturday to get their fill of shortcakes, ice cream, pies and more.

The Peach Festival originated as a fundraiser for the church, assisting with its daily operations as well as various community outreach programs. Throughout its more-than-60-year history, though, it also became a focal point of local summer festivities. Area residents look forward to this weekend each year.

We offer our appreciation to the volunteers who step up each year to organize this event, including those who spent time slicing gallons of peaches this year and preparing the food and desserts.

Your contributions to this festival, and the community, do not go unnoticed.
