Investment in Weirton’s infrastructure is continuing as city officials work to prepare the community for future opportunities. Last week, the Weirton Area Water Board was finally able to award a contract for its long-planned project to expand the capacity of its water treatment plant. That’s when this year’s Jefferson County Media Day Blood Drive is scheduled to be held at the St. Florian Event Center in Wintersville. The doors will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and we hope that everyone who is eligible will participate in the annual event. As public officials started to talk — truly — about the ways in which the system failed Kyneddi Miller, it became obvious that some of those failures took place in association with Kyneddi’s family homeschooling her since at least February 2021.
