“Where health comes first” appropriate theme
To the Editor,
At Trinity Health System, we make the healing presence of God known in our world by improving the health of the people we serve, especially those who are vulnerable, while we advance social justice for all. Trinity’s Mission is carried forward by all employees who support and render direct patient care services.
“Where health comes first” is the theme of this year’s American Hospital Association’s National Hospital Week. It runs today through Saturday and recognizes all those who serve community members in meeting their health and wellness needs. I am honored to work alongside all employees at Trinity Health System. I deeply appreciate their knowledge, technical, interpersonal and professional skills each brings to our patients and one another every day. I am encouraged and grateful especially by the efforts of our administration, medical staff, leadership and employee commitment to the planning, implementation and collaboration of initiatives with the Jefferson County Health Department and other local, state and federal community agencies to minimize the effects of COVID-19 on our community.
With wars, other outbreaks of disease down through the years, we’ve certainly been challenged to step up our efforts of “health first” to combat this peculiar virus. We have all seen the devastation caused by COVID-19 around the world. There are not enough words of appreciation to thank our medical, nursing and allied health professionals at all levels of our society who give us hope. With the fluctuation in COVID-19 cases predicted in coming months, their research into the etymology, treatment and management of this virus is under rapid study and development.
To all of the employees who have worked, currently work and will work in our ministry of health care at Trinity, “May the Lord bless and keep you; may he make his Face shine upon you and be merciful to you; may he turn his countenance toward you and give you his peace!” (Num. 6:22-27)
