Boniti family offers thanks

To the Editor,

We would like to thank everyone who offered us their sympathy, support and kindness following the death of Al Boniti. Al wore many hats during his life within his family, among his friends and during his 43-year career as teacher and principal at St. Joseph Grade School. We were touched to see at the funeral home and funeral mass many of the people whose lives he had touched and hearts he had warmed.

Your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time remain with us and have been a great comfort to our family. We appreciate everything the medical community did for Al during his eight-month illness: the many doctors – especially Dr. Shetty, Dr. Roig and Dr. Toni – and the nurses, technicians and other staff members at Weirton Medical Center.

We also are grateful to John Greco and the staff at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home for arranging the viewing and the entire scope of Al’s funeral services.

To Father Mike McCormick, a family friend, and to Father Tony Thurston for concelebrating Al’s funeral mass at St. Joseph the Worker Church, and to Father Vasyl Symyon of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church for administering the last rites at the hospital. Thank you for reminding us of God’s continued presence in our lives and helping us maintain our faith, which have been a tremendous comfort and blessing to us.

To the local rescue teams who responded to our many medical calls at home during times of emergency. To the home health nurses and therapists who cared for Al during their house calls. To his former St. Joseph Grade School students and their parents who paid tribute to “Mr. Bo.”

And to the many people who visited us at home, offered memorial masses and sent us donations, food and cards. We will forever appreciate your thoughtfulness to help us through our time of grief.

Patty Boniti and Family
