To the editor:
Memories. Memories of a loved one gone. That was the message minister Tom Derby delivered at the remembrance memorial service at Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home last Sunday evening.
Keep your memories alive and talk often of your loved one, remembering the good qualities they had and also the not-so-pleasant ones, for this is what gets you through your grief.
Doug and Mary Hannah Finton, along with their staff, Dave, Ernie, James, and Jeff, offered an absolutely beautiful memorial service for the families who lost loved ones this past year. This was such a compassionate and caring thing for them to do, especially during this difficult time of the holiday season. For them to not only care for your loved one at the time of their passing, but to remember them and their families at the end of each year is truly a selfless act.
I cannot speak enough of this beautiful service and the inspiring message of hope and love that my son and I felt.
When the service was over, we were presented with a beautiful ornament with our loved one's name on it as a keepsake.
During this time of year, with the spirit of love and giving of the holidays, it is truly nice to see such compassion and caring that the staff at Steel and Wolfe demonstrated. Wouldn't it be nice if we all could have that mindset in life and just care for one another? I believe this would make the world we live in such a better place.
What Doug and Mary Hannah do is so much appreciated, and surely will not be forgotten by the many who were in attendance that evening. A special thank you from the bottom of all of our hearts.
