In Hancock County, six candidates are vying to represent "we the people" in the upcoming election for School Board. In the past, little information was available about the candidates' views on educational issues. In today's world, I believe that we must understand the candidates' educational ideology prior to voting.
We have seen elected school officials across the Country imposing their values, not the values of the people who have elected them, upon the parents, guardians, children, teachers, staff. I suspect that prior to voting, the electorate did not press those rogue candidates about their educational ideology.
If you believe that we are insulated from exposure to rogue educational ideology, I remind everyone about the "underhanded" attempt to "cancel" the Weir Red Rider Mascot. Even today, it has been reported that "potentially questionable" subject matter has been taught for the last five years at Wheeling Park High School.
We must require these candidates either document in writing or via public forum their beliefs about educational issues so that "we the people" can make informed decisions about who best represents us. If this is not done, "we the people" will unfortunately put our youth at risk.
