A tribute to Judith Hamill

1 min read

To the Editor,

Not many times do we hear about teachers that influenced our lives in such a way that they are remembered 56 years later.

Judith Hamill was my sixth grade teacher. She was my teacher that year, but my friend until she passed away on Saturday.

I came from a big family. There were six children. My dad worked in Weirton Steel. Mrs. Hamill was so aware of that and was not only concerned about me, as her student, but also my brothers and sisters that were younger than I.

We exchanged gifts and cards, words of encouragement and thanks throughout the years. Every time we saw each other was a memorable occasion, at least to me. She taught me the meaning of obedience, hard work, love and concern for others. I will never forget all that she meant to me then and now.

I was deeply saddened to read of her death. My sympathy to her sister, Barbara. May God comfort you as you go through this trying time. Please look to Him for comfort that only He can provide.

Love you, Mrs. Hamill!
