To the Editor,
On this November 8, Election Day, our Hancock County libraries will need your help in encouraging our community to come and vote, "YES," on the Hancock County Library Renewal Levy.
The current Hancock County Library Levy will end on June 30, 2023 and funding for Lynn Murray Memorial Library in Chester, the Swaney Memorial Library in New Cumberland, and the Mary H. Weir Public Library in Weirton will end.
Our public libraries in Hancock County need your help and support to vote 'Yes," and pass the Hancock County Library renewal Levy!
The Hancock County Library Renewal Levy will continue to provide funding for books, and library services for our readers, families, children, and citizens who need access to information.
Our Hancock County libraries provide children's story hours, children's books, adult literary volunteer support services, books, magazines, newspapers, audio books, and large print books, also online services for our readers are offered.
Our local libraries have experienced an increase in usage, especially job searches, employment skill development and job data base search services.
The Library Levy is not an increase in funding and will continue to provide funds each year for four years beginning July 2023.
This Library renewal levy must be passed by 60 per cent of voters – a simple majority vote will not be enough to pass the levy.
Please vote on November 8, Election Day and vote "YES" for the Library Renewal Levy and help continue to provide books and library services for our readers and our community.
