Heading toward ochlocracy

3 min read

To the Editor,

Winston Churchill said "Democracy is the worst form of government--except for all the others that have been tried." Winston Churchill was wrong.

Prior to the election of Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1932, citizens of our country seldom if ever spoke the word democracy and seldom was it heard. The primary reason for this is quite simple: our founding founders recognized our newly established nation as a constitutional republic. A lady asked Benjamin Franklin, "Well, what have we got, a monarchy or a republic," to which Franklin replied, "A republic, if you can keep it."

In simple terms what this meant is that quasi-equality is at least codified under the law. As stated in our Declaration of Independence, all men are created equal, but not all men then became equal concerning voting rights. A man during the era of our nation's founding had to be a landowner in order to vote, or in today's parlance, "have some skin in the game."

This makes perfect sense.

As time passed, voting rights became less restrictive, right up to the present day. The age limit has been lowered. Everyone today of can vote regardless of gender, whether one is a property owner or even works at all. Every day one hears how suppression of voting rights is at stake. This is pure babble. Witness the vast number of franchised generational welfare recipients content with receiving monthly stipends. No need to work, get that welfare check, sit back but get out and vote. In the meantime, stuff that bloated belly with lots of junk food while sitting contentedly on the porch swing. Turn on that loud music and maybe try some dope.

No offense is intended against one truly incapacitated.

Who do you expect to pay for this? Will the working man put up with this forever? Keep it up and your children will be dining on pig knuckles and sauerkraut sandwiches.

What does this mean? Clearly, vote to take money from the wage earner and put it into the pockets of the lazy man unwilling to work. Are our elected officials too timid to address this issue? It's not even mentioned. It's time to quit pretending this is how a fair system works and quit pretending that wholesale fraud doesn't exist.

Let illegal aliens continue to flood the southern border and keep those college kids brainwashed with socialist doctrine. This is what you got for democracy today.

Farewell, constitutional republic. Welcome ochlocracy.
