At the November Follansbee Chamber of Commerce Recognition Dinner, Dr. Carmel Esposito was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Esposito has been a service to others throughout her professional career and her volunteerism.

Esposito impressed me with her tenacity for higher education at a time when women were not as visible in professional roles. She began her career in nursing in 1954, completed her bachelor of science in nursing in 1978, master of science in 1988 and doctor of education administration in 1993.

Early in her career, she worked in medical surgical units and later became a nursing instructor. She has been honored as Follansbee Chamber Citizen of the Year and Who’s Who in American Nursing.

Esposito has been a leader and volunteer in numerous community services in the Ohio Valley. Congratulations to this remarkable professional woman, mother and grandmother.
