25-Year Club event a success

2 min read

To the Editor,

On behalf of the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club committee, we would like to take this time to thank all of the sponsors and workers who helped to make this year's picnic possible and successful.

The picnic was held July 15 at the Serbian Picnic Grounds, and was well-attended by more than 400 members.

A big shout out to our sponsors, who gave generously to make this happen: First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union, Tudor's Biscuit World and Hancock County Savings Bank. Other donors included James White Construction Co., Maxwell Welding, Clayton Engineering, R.E. Saxon Jewelers, Lyle's Auto, United Steelworkers Local 1129, Women of Steel, Total Equipment, Hauser Furniture and Donvernon Heating and Cooling.

Gifts for the drawing came from Follansbee McDonald's; Brooke Hills Park; Basil's Restaurant; M&M Hardware; Huddle House; Mario's; Dee Jay's Ribs; Fairfield Inn; Johnmichael Salon; Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort; Homer Laughlin China; O'Reilly Auto Parts; Advance Auto Parts; Eat 'n Park; Holiday Inn, Newbrough Studio, Gus's Goodies and Downtown Bakery.

We would like to thank Shirley Shuler, Melissa Shuler, Robin Byers and students from Brooke, Steubenville and Weir high schools who pass out candy in the parades and help park cars at the picnic. Also, the Serbian Men's Club and Pete Zatezalo for the great job they do on the picnic grounds, and our caterer, Walter Ruszkowski, for the food.

Thanks also to the Herald-Star and The Weirton Daily Times for the coverage they gave us.

Last, but not least, thanks to all of the members who came out to help set up and make everything run smoothly -- this would not be possible without the help each of you provided.

We hope to keep this tradition going and are looking forward to seeing you in the following years. God bless, and enjoy the rest of the summer.
