Reasons to be appalled

2 min read

To the Editor,

We know of the creator-given rights mentioned in the Declaration of Independence of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Are these rights just for us who are born, or do they apply in all stages of life? "You brought my inner parts into being, you wove me in my mother's womb." (Psalms 139:13,14)

Anyone with a conscience intact was appalled at the atrocities that took place in Israel on Oct. 7. Adults, children and babies were taken from their safe places and mutilated, killed or burned to death.

We also must be appalled at the atrocity that takes place on babies in the safe place of their mother's womb. Limbs being torn off or perhaps burned to death in a saline solution.

It is sad that many voters are rejoicing after having the mechanism that allows this to be enshrined into their state constitution.

My prayer for our nation is that is would hold onto the values that have brought greatness, such as holding life dear in all of its stages.

This life provision was written in our founding documents by men who sought God's wisdom and guidance in their great endeavor. Liberty and pursuit of happenings cannot proceed without life.

"A virgin shall be with child, and will bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel," which is interpreted as "God with us." (Matthew 1:23.)
