Serving the needs

2 min read

To the Editor,

Several months ago, a need was identified to provide Christmas dinners for Weirton citizens by representatives of the City, All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, the Order of AHEPA 103, and the Salvation Army of Weirton. Through the initiative of these individuals, 300 hot meals were provided to Weirton high-rise residents, shut-ins, citizens, Weirton Police Department and Weirton Fire Departments.

The enthusiasm, positivity, and willingness of many individuals made this possible and their efforts did not go unnoticed. With deepest gratitude, thank you to all of the volunteers, the All Sainst Greek Orthodox Church, Order of AHEPA 103, the Salvation Army of Weirton, Weirton Heights Rotary, Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce, Hancock County Commissioner Jeff Davis, the Kroger Co., The Weirton Woman's Club, the Christian Mothers of Weirton, United Bank, the Wyngate Senior Living Community of Weirton, multiple individuals and small businesses alike who all came together to make this event possible.

Also, thank you to The Weirton Daily Times, WTRF 7 News, and WTOV News 9 for the continued coverage of the dinner that made a positive impact in our community. We are grateful to all who participated and hopeful we can continue this tradition in 2024 with continued support from our entire community. Sending best regards for all for a blessed new year.

Harold E. Miller

Mayor of Weirton
