I'm not sure who wrote the "Our Opinion" article in the February 26, 2024, Daily Times paper, but it sure came out one-sided. Putting targets on books and learning, from obscene material, really? That's kind of a no-brainer. We put cigarettes and cigars behind a locked case, can't be purchased until you're 21. Liquor can't be purchased until you're 21. Putting and keeping obscene material out of reach of children under 18 only makes common sense.
Young children are like sponges, very curious, but also very vulnerable and impressionable, and as such, their minds need to be protected in and through their developmental years. So, any and all obscene material needs be out of their hands and minds until they reach at least 18-years of age.
Social media, some out of touch teachers, and obscene material, creates a volatile situation that will easily harm a child through a process called "grooming." This grooming process is being done intentionally. The act of introducing young children to sexual material, at an early age, in schools, has caused them to begin questioning themselves. There is nothing here to propel them into a bright future, only a future of darkness, that some may never recover from. This is not how children are supposed to learn. Children, today, in the great state of West Virginia, need to be protected from this darkness from Satan. These young children, who are being subjected to obscene material, without parental knowledge, are now questioning their gender. There is an epidemic among young children, in our schools, who will never be the same if something doesn't change. I believe there is a change coming. This type of ideology, including obscene books, should be completely eliminated from all our schools. Apparently, some of these so-called teachers haven't heard of a book called the Bible. That's the book children should be educated on. It teaches simple truths; God made a man and a woman. God doesn't make mistakes. All of this irresponsible action, is a clear and unadulterated form of child abuse.
We, as adults, have to standup for each and every child, and ensure they understand completely the difference between what the world has to say, and what God has to say. There needs to be a renewed awareness and focus on Jesus, not only in our schools, but in the family unit as well.
So, the only thing correct in this article is that Mountaineers are ALWAYS free, now they are protected, as well. If you're over 18-years of age, the world is yours. I applaud our lawmakers in Charleston for a vision of protecting our children.
