To the Editor,
I was very surprised when I learned the athletic fields at Oak Glen High School were going to be named for me.
The number of people in attendance to witness this event during the threat of rain on April 10, 2024, was astounding. I was truly honored to be in the presence of such respectful young athletes who play on the baseball and softball teams and of so many members of the community who supported the dedication.
I thank the Hancock County administrators, the coaches, the committee who arranged the dedication ceremony and the fans who made the celebration perfect!
I was given a great honor and I will never forget the thoughtfulness that prompted the new name for the fields.
