25-Year Club picnic a success

2 min read

To the Editor,

On behalf of the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club Committee, we would like to take this time to thank all of the sponsors and workers who made this possible.

This year's picnic was held July 13 and was very well attended with more than 450 members. The weather was great and everyone seemed to enjoy seeing their past co-workers.

So, let's give a big shout-out to all of the great sponsors who gave generously to make this happen: First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union, Tudor's Biscuit World and Hancock County Savings Bank. Other donors were James White Construction, R.E. Saxon Jeweler, Lyle's Auto, Follansbee McDonald's, United Steelworkers Local 1129, Total Equipment, Hauser's Furniture, Mario's Restaurant, Holiday Inn, Wash-Rite Car Wash, Brooke Hills Park, Johnmichael Beauty Salon, Wine and Beverage Merchants of West Virginia, Gus's Goodies, Dave Cline, Randy Swartzmiller, Weirton Medical Center, Randall Skiles and Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home.

I hope I did not forget anyone -- if so, I am sorry.

Also, a big shout-out to Pete Zatezalo and the Serbian Men's Club for the great job they do at the picnic grounds -- it looks beautiful.

Thanks to the Hancock County Sheriff's Auxiliary for traffic control, and to all of the students from Brooke and Steubenville high schools who helped pass out candy in the parade and park cars at the picnic.

Thanks to The Weirton Daily Times, the Herald-Star and WTOV-TV for the coverage they gave us.

Last, but not least, thanks to all of the people who came to set up and make things run smoothly. We could not do it without you.

If anyone would like to join to help keep this going, contact me. God bless and thank all of you again.

Ron Baker
