Why aren’t students first?

1 min read

To the Editor,

I just read the article about the goals laid out by the superintendent of the Hancock County Board of Education.

Amazingly enough, three of the four goals require more money.  The goal of improving student achievement is third -- should that not be the primary goal of the board of education? It is the only goal that does not ask for money.

Maybe we should  find more creative ways to help the students achieve their goals, not those of the board of education. I would begin by cutting the salaries of those who do not put students first.
