New Cumberland offers thanks
To the Editor,
The 15th annual New Cumberland Fall Riverfest has come to an end despite a constant drizzle.
The small, but mighty, committee depends on the entire community to pull off this endeavor. First and foremost are the neighbors of River Avenue. Thank you for letting the public trespass on your property and block your driveways. You are very good sports and we appreciate you.
Thank you to Mayor White and Council for their support and assistance. The City Employees did a lot to spruce up the town and lend a helping hand wherever needed. The ever-present city, county and reserves policemen, coordinated by Chief Lester Skinner, are very much appreciated.
A successful Riverfest 5K, headed by Trisha Enochs, for the Oak Glen High School Physical Education Department was safely executed and enjoyed (?). Despite the threat of rain, the Riverfest Car Show, put together by Jim Ewing, brought 72 beautiful cars. Thanks to all of the volunteers.
The Riverfest Art Show displayed by Diane Wells and Ron Anderson proved to be a successful venue to show new art talents. Sixty plus vendors, six bands, a Little Miss Pageant, costumed characters and more graced River Avenue and we thank you all.
It takes a “tribe” to put on a festival, more volunteers than this letter was allowed to name. Thank you. Special thanks to City Clerk Tammy Jenkins who pours her heart into this festival year after year. She coordinates it all and New Cumberland thanks you.
