Show displays students’ talents

To the Editor,

The Sixth Annual High School Students Art Exhibition sponsored by the Top of WV Arts Council was held November 12 at the Summit Art Gallery, with an opening reception hosting nearly 100 guests.

Brooke, Madonna, and Oak Glen high schools participated in the themed show of “Lost & Found.”

The event featured 32 participating student artists with forty pieces of art displayed. Many are three-dimensional works producing a different display. One art teacher also provided artwork.

The exhibition provides an opportunity for the young student artist to participate in a function that is remote from the classroom. The art teachers expend extra work in preparation for the exhibit that exceeds their normal duties.

The teachers form the jury to judge the works for award ribbons. The teacher with the school being judged does not participate. A member of the TWV Arts Council also participates in the judging of all schools. We applaud these teachers for their extended effort.
