Post 33 wins on the road

ELKINS ­– The Jefferson County Post 33 Legion baseball team defeated Elkins on Sunday, 8-4. Its second game against Charleston was stopped by rain with the score tied a 4-4 in extra innings.

In the win over Elkins, Jefferson County was led by three hits, two doubles and two RBIs from Luke Zorne. Andrew Kinney had two hits and two RBIs, Dom DeFrances had two hits and Anthony Sinicropi doubled and finished with two RBIs.

On the mound for Post 33, Matt Bell picked up the win, tossing the first five innings. He struck out six and walked five, allowing four runs on six hits. Ryan Neely closed out the final two innings without allowing a run.

Jefferson County is back in action today at home against St. Clairsville.
