Oak Glen fends off Toronto, 50-41

NEW MANCHESTER — The Oak Glen girls basketball team opened up a first-quarter lead and never looked back Monday, defeating Toronto 50-41.

The Golden Bears, who stayed unbeaten on the young season at 3-0, were led by Alexa Andrews with 12 points. Brooklyn Loveland also reached double figures with 10 points, while Reece Enochs had eight.

For the Red Knights, Kendal Thomas led the way with 16 points, while Riley Kinsey had eight and Abby Liddick had seven.

Oak Glen also won the jayvee game, 33-4. The Golden Bears’ reserves were led by Carson Barr with eight points.

Oak Glen is at rival Weir High on Wednesday.

Indian Creek 39, East Liverpool 33

EAST LIVERPOOL — The Indian Creek girls basketball team trailed after each of the first three quarters, but mounted a fourth-quarter comeback to defeat East Liverpool, 39-33, Monday evening in Buckeye 8 Conference play.

The Redskins outscored the Potters 10-3 in the final eight minutes to take the win.

Indian Creek was led by Kylie Kiger with 13 points, including three 3-pointers. MacKenzie Taylor reached double digits with 10 points, while Ally Tweedy finished with eight points.

East Liverpool was led by MiKayla Reed’s 10 points.

BELMONT — The Harrison Central girls basketball team suffered a tough setback on Monday night, 78-27, at unbeaten Union Local in Buckeye 8 Conference action.

The Huskies (1-4) efforts were led by Britton Positano with 10 points. Mackenzie Harbold finished with five points, while Lexi Carter had three.

Union Local (4-0) had four players reach double figures, led by Reagan Vinskovich’s 18 points. Keira Gregor had 17, Torre Kildow 14 and Casey Kildow 11.
