Franciscan women win, men fall to Mount Aloysius

STEUBENVILLE -- The Franciscan University of Steubenville basketball teams split a doubleheader with Mount Aloysius on Wednesday.

In the opener, the Baron men fell to the Mounties, 74-60.

Drazen Frankovitch led Franciscan (7-12, 6-9 in the AMCC) with 17 points and nine rebounds. Matt Trent collected 10 points and 17 boards, leaving him four points shy of 1,000 career. Joe Schriner had nine points, while Sean Hickey added eight.

The Barons collected 30 fouls, the most in a game since Nov. 23, 2013.

As for the women, they defeated the Mounties, 62-50.

Zoe Harding led the Barons (9-11, 7-8 in the AMCC) with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Estelle Leon also recorded a double-double, her seventh this season, collecting 11 points and 11 boards. Angela Starre had 16 points.

Both squads head to Alfred State Saturday for their first road trip since Martin Luther King Day. The men tip off at 2 p.m., while the women start at 4 p.m.
