Post 33 splits DH, falls in championship

The Jefferson County Teramana Post 33 Legion baseball team earned a split on Saturday during the College Classic.

In the first game, Post 33 bested Sandusky Post 83, 6-5, thanks to a five-run fifth inning. Caleb Blawut tossed the first 4 1/3 innings. Andrew Gresko earned the win in 2 1/3 innings of relief. He allowed one run on four hits, no walks and struck out 1. Jayden Sanders recorded the final out for the save. He walked one and punched out another.

Offensively, George Ash had two singles and an RBI. Quinn McCoy produced a base knock and two runs batted in. J.T. Thompson also had a multi-hit game with a pair of singles. Ryan Anderson and Ian McBane each singled and drove home one.

In Game 2, Tiffin scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to stun Post 33, 2-1. Ash took the loss in the complete game, allowing no earned runs on five hits, four walks and striking out seven. Thompson, David Ferroni, Coy Amis and Blawut all singled.

In the championship game on Sunday, Tiffin bested Post 33, 8-2. Sanders and took the loss in five innings, while Connor Shultz tossed the sixth. Ash doubled and drove home a run. Aiden Fernandez added a single.
