STEUBENVILLE -- The Jefferson County Teramana Post 33 Legion baseball tournament scored twice in the seventh to walk off over Berkeley Post 14, 9-8, on Friday.
Caleb Blawut started the first two innings and allowed four unearned runs on two hits, three walks and struck out one. Caesen Sutton earned the win in five innings of relief. He allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits, two walks and struck out four.
Offensively, J.T. Thompson had two singles and two RBIs. Ryan Anderson doubled and drove home a pair. Blake Connelly recorded two RBIs, as well. Quinn McCoy had a single, double and one run batted in. David Ferroni singled twice, while Aiden Fernandez doubled.
Brilliant falls twice
BARNESVILLE -- Brilliant Post 573 fell twice to Barnesville Post 168 on Friday.
In the first game, Barnesville opened its season with an 11-1, five-inning victory. Jake Edwards pitched a complete game and helped his own cause with two doubles and three RBIs. Barnesville scored 10 runs in the first two frames off Brilliant starter Ethan McHugh. Alan Burkett had a run-scoring double, while Matt Scott and Joey Booth each singled.
In Game 2, Barnesville won, 3-1. C.J. Hannah tallied three singles and an RBI. Gavin Carpenter ripped an RBI double in the first and produced another RBI in the fifth.
Barnesville is 2-0, while Brilliant falls to 0-5.
