WHEELING -- The Ohio Valley Athletic Conference announced its 2022 recipients of the Bill Welker Wrestler of the Year award.
The selections were made by a committee of five Ohio Valley wrestling dignitaries, chaired by Rick Welker. The West Virginia representatives are Dan Doyle and Ron Mauck, while Ohio representatives are Kim North and Sean Smith.
The recipients must be seniors and are chosen on the basis of personal wrestling accomplishments over their entire scholastic careers. This year's winners are Cameron's Ian Bush and Beaver Local High School's Logan Ours.

The Dragons' seniors accolades include:

≤ Two-Time West Virginia A/AA State Champion
≤ Two-Time West Virginia A/AA Outstanding Wrestler
≤ Three-Time OVAC Ron Mauck Tournament Place-winner
≤ 2020 & 2022 OVAC Ron Mauck Tournament Champion and 2022 (No OVAC Tournament in 2021)
≤ Hercules Award winner
≤ NHSCA Virginia Beach Nationals All-American
≤ West Virginia Freestyle Champion
Bush finished his career with a senior record of 40-2 and a career mark of 147-12 (105 Falls). He also excelled in the classroom with a 4.8 GPA.
Bush plans to wrestle at West Virginia University, majoring in finance.

Ours finished his career with a record of 135-16 (92 Falls) and went 35-3 as a senior this season. He also was a stellar academic with a GPA of 3.9.
Ours plans to continue his wrestling career at the University of Wyoming.
