The Ohio Valley Athletic Conference announced its all-conference teams Thursday and Friday and a total of 26 players, 13 boys and 13 girls, from local school were selected for first team recognition.
Another 20 local athletes, nine boys and 11 girls, received second team recognition from the OVAC.
BOYS
In Class 1A, Madonna's Matt Amaismeier and Evan Bone were first team selections after helping lead the Blue Dons to a state tournament appearance, regional and sectional championships. Fellow Madonna senior Santino Arlia was a second team selection.
In Class 2A, Catholic Central's Andrew Dorsey and Toronto's Shane Keenan were first team selections, while the Red Knights' Kam Baker and the Crusaders' Daniel Bolster were each selected for the second team.
Buckeye Local's leading scorer, Cameron Best, landed on the 3A first team, while teammate Luke Darrah was picked for second team.
A host of local players garnered recognition in Class 4A.
The Harrison Central duo of Hayden Cassidy and Jace Madzia, Indian Creek's Logan Kuczykowski, Weir High's Damarr Turner, Edison's Tremendous West and Oak Glen's Jontae Howard were all first team selections in the classification.
The Golden Bears' Chase Clark, the Redskins' Logan Schaffer and the Red Riders' Anthony Cross were picked for second team.
In Class 5A, Brooke's dynamic duo of Alex Isinghood and Cole Sperlazza were first team selections along with Big Red standout Brenton "Inky" Jones. Big Red's Phaeton Hill and the Bruins' Jason Varner landed on the second team.
GIRLS
Vanessa Alatis's senior campaign with the Blue Dons ends with a first team selection in Class 1A, while teammate Anna Backel lands on the second team.
In Class 2A, Catholic Central standout Katie Zatta was a first team selection along with Toronto's Ashton Thomas. The Red Knights' Maryn Donnelly and the Crusaders' Clara Symington were selected for the second team.
In 3A, Buckeye Local's Emily Valuska was a first team selection and teammate Brynn McKeever landed on the second team.
Like on the boys side, Class 4A's lists were stacked with local talent.
Weir High's Sophia Aperfine, Indian Creek's McKenna Scott, Edison's Alayna Meadows, Oak Glen's Maddie McKay and Carson Barr and Harrison Central's McKayla Dunkle and Maddy Butler all made the first team in the class.
The Redskins' Kylie Anderson, Wildcats' Savanna Ankrom, Red Riders' Olivia Baker, Golden Bears' Lizzie Kell and Huskies' MacKenzie Harbold each made the second team.
In Class 5A, Big Red sophomore sharpshooter Madalyn Criss and Brooke senior standout Ava Bolen were selected for the first team, while Steubenville's Aniyah Warner and the Bruins' Madison Platt were second team picks.
