Big Red gets road win over ranked Indian Valley, 4-3

GNADENHUTTEN -- The Big Red baseball team broke a deadlock in the top of the fifth inning Tuesday at Indian Valley and hung on to defeat the state-ranked hosts, 4-3.

In the decisive inning, Steubenville (8-4) plated three runs to break a 1-1 tie, then Indian Valley answered with two in the bottom half to get back within one.

J.T. Thompson made the lead stand up, as he went the distance and fanned five with no walks.

Ayden Manning had a pair of singles at the plate to lead the Big Red offense, which had eight hits in the game.

Steubenville returns home to host Harrison Central today.

Edison tops CCHS

RICHMOND -- The Edison baseball team picked up a 5-2 win over Catholic Central at home on Tuesday, led by a homer and three RB?Is from Isaac Zastudil.

Gage Cline had a double, two hits and an RBI, while Ian McBane also had a pair of hits and an RBI.

Hunter Rothacker got the win going 6 1/3 with seven strikeouts.

Alex Solema had a double and an RBI for the Crusaders, while Kody Carver also plated a run.

Madonna downs Tyler

WEIRTON -- The Madonna baseball team took an early lead and did not look back on Tuesday as the Blue Dons topped Tyler at Bowman Field.

Matt Amaismeier went 3 for 3 with two RBIs, while David Connors also drove in a pair of runs.

Amaismeier struck out 10 in the win on the mound.

Creek falls at Beaver

CALCUTTA -- The Indian Creek baseball team dropped a heartbreaker on Tuesday as Beaver Local came back to walk-off the Redskins, 7-6.

Creek had led 6-2 going to the sixth inning.

Sy Howell and Cam Franke each had two hits, while Ty Housholder and Aiden Orr each drove in two runs.

Linsly comes back against Brooke

WELLSBURG -- Visiting Linsly scored eight runs in the final two innings to erase a four-run Brooke lead and win, 8-5.

The Bruins got two RBIs from Braelyn Sperringer and Owen Petrella, while Garett Hornick and Carson Lauttamus each had doubles.

Big Red wins big

BELLAIRE -- Big Red ended its recent slump in a big way on Tuesday, scoring at least four runs in the first four innings enroute to a 17-0, five inning win over Bellaire on the road on Tuesday.

Jules King struck out 12 of 15 batters to record the pefect game in the circle.

Steubenville was led at the plate by Paige Matteson, who had three hits and four RBIs, while Sena Smith also had four RBIs and Gia Bowman had two hits and drove in two runs.

Panthers split DH

CONNORVILLE - The visiting Jets and Panthers split a doubleheader on Tuesday.

UL led 11-0 in the opener before Buckeye Local scored four in the sixth.

Emmy Kellaway singled three times, tripled and drove in two runs for the winners. Torre Kildow singled twice, doubled and also plated two runs. Abi Marinelli drove in a run with a home run. She also singled.

For the Panthers, Morgan Richardson, Josey Meddles and Alexa Williams all singled twice, with Williams recording an RBI. Madison Roset had a two-run single.

In the nightcap, the hosts led 6-5 before plating half-a-dozen runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Williams knocked in four runs to lead the victors with a pair of doubles. Richardson singled in two, as did Alli Trekal.

Ava Lucas laced a trio of singles for Union Local to account for an RBI. Marinelli singled twice and had a run batted in, while Hannah Merritt doubled twice.
