MINGO JUNCTION -- The Indian Creek baseball team got its bats going early and often on Wednesday, pulling away from John Marshall for a 13-3, five inning victory at home.
Creek plated four in the bottom of the first and used a six-run bottom of the fourth to turn a 5-3 lead into an eight-run advantage on its way to ending things early with two more in the fifth.
Sy Howell had a productive day at the plate with a pair of hits and four RBIs, while Landon Pownall and Nicky Maurer each drove in a pair of runs with a pair of base hits.
Ty Householder also had two hits, while Jack Amis, Cam Franke and Caleb Bodo each had an RBI.
Trevor Lash wemt all five innings on the mound and struck out two while walking just two.
Edison halted in a tie
MARTINS FERRY -- Edison and Martins Ferry battled to an 11-11 tie through seven innings on Wednesday before it was determined the game could not continue.
Isaac Zastudil had three hits and a pair of RBIs for the Wildcats when the game was halted.
Matt Parsons had two hits and an RBI, while Eli Wilson three hits and plated a run.
Edison took a 5-0 lead in the top of the first and led 10-4 before Ferry battled back to tie the game at 11 in the bottom of the sixth.

Panthers blank Bulldogs
BRIDGEPORT -- The Buckeye Local softball team got off to a fast start and did not look back as the Panthers blanked Bridgeport on the road Wednesday, 10-0, in five innings.
Coach Troy Fetty's club plated three in the top of the first and added five an inning later for an 8-0 lead, before getting two in the fifth.
Isabella Hepburn went 3 for 3 with two RBIs, while Alexa Williams doubled in a pair of runs and Josey Meddles and Morgan Richardson each doubled, had two hits and an RBI.
Kiarra Eastham struck out four, allowed one hit and went the distance in the circle.
Central falls at Bellaire
NEFFS -- The Catholic Central softball team dropped a 13-2 decision at Bellaire in five innings on Wednesday.
The Crusaders got a single and an RBI from Nina Dunburg and Bella Zinno.
