CALCUTTA -- The Buckeye 8 Conference Track and Field Championships were held Tuesday at Beaver Local High School, and several local athletes placed on the podium.
Indian Creek's Peyton Freshwater placed second in the girls 400 in 1:07.71, while teammate Madison Conrad paced the 800 in 2:41.92 and the 1600 in 6:03.34. On the boys side, the Redskins' Roan Kovach was third in the long jump with a distance of 18-01.25.
Edison's Morgan Lesnansky was runner-up in the 800 and 1600, turning in times of 2:47.75 and 6:04.13, while the Wildcats' Laurel Kemp was second in the 3200 in 13:49.83. Rachel Nesbit was second in the shot put with a distance of 27-09 and third in the discus with a 79-03.
Harrison Central's Nadia Tweedy reached the podium in the girls 400 with a time of 1:08.41. The Huskies' Danica Rensi was tied for third in the girls high jump leaping 4-08, while Carys Haney topped the shot put with a throw of 32-07.75. For the Huskies' boys team, Hunter Boals was third in the shot put with a toss of 43-06.
