MORGANTOWN -- Madonna will get to defend its title as OVAC champs later this week as the Blue Dons advanced to Saturday's Class 1A championship with a 9-2 victory over Trinity Christian in Monday's semifinal.
The Blue Dons, the No. 3 seed in the tournament, will take on top seeded Cameron in the 1A final at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Edison Multisport Complex.
Madonna took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first and made it 5-0 in the fourth to take control, adding some insurance in the sixth with one and two more in the top of the seventh.
Parker Haney went the first five innings and fanned eight batters while Marques Parker added another four punchouts in working a scoreless final two innings.
Kolton Grishkevich went 3 for 4 at the plate with a double and a pair of RBIs, while Chase Littleton had a double and an RBI, as did Luke Amaismeier.
Matt Amaismeier had a pair of hits and an RBI, while Brock Reinacher and Lucas McAllister each drove in a run.
The Blue Dons host Tyler Consolidated today.
Edison tops Wellsville
RICHMOND -- The Edison baseball team took an early lead and used a big inning to add to it Monday night home, as it defeated Wellsville, 10-1.
The Wildcats scored a run in each of the first two innings then, after going up 3-0 in the fourth, plated five in the fifth to pull away.
Gage Cline had a double and an RBI, while Matt Parsons doubled and Eli Wilson went 3 for 4 with three RBIs.
Ian McBane also plated a pair of runs, while Cam Cooley tossed the first 5 1/3 innings to take the win. He struck out eight with just one walk.

McKay gets win No. 50
NEW MANCHESTER -- Maddie McKay's decorated high school career reached another milestone on Monday as the Toledo commit tossed a complete game shutout to earn the 50th win of her career as Oak Glen defeated visiting East Fairmont, 8-0, in five innings at the Field of Dreams.
The senior standout fanned nine and allowed just three hits, while going 2 of 3 at the plate with a pair of RBIs.
Kenna Calahan also went 2 for 3 and had a triple, while Lizzie Kell was 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs to lead the Golden Bears' (19-2) offense.
Emma Renfro also drove in a run for Oak Glen, who will take on Indian Creek in today's OVAC Class 4A semifinal at the I-470 complex.
Creek tops Park
MINGO JUNCTION -- The Indian Creek softball team will head into tomorrow's OVAC tournament riding momentum as the Redskins knocked off Wheeling Park, 11-6, Monday at home.
Creek, which was lead 7-5 at the time, used a four-run bottom of the sixth to pull away from the invading Patriots.
Trinity Taylor led the way at the plate and in the circle. She went 3 for 4 with two doubles and five RBIs with the bat and tossed a complete game to take the win with two strikeouts and just one walk.
Carley Jo Penner went 3 for 3, while Alexis Dawson and Kiersten Dorsey each plated a pair of runs and went 3 for 4. Abby Starkey also had a multi-hit game.
Brooke pulls away from EL
EAST LIVERPOOL--The Bruins opened the top of the first inning with five runs and never looked on the road at East Liverpool Monday, topping the Potters 13-1 in five innings.
Baylei Jones fanned seven batters while Emilee Knorr had three hits, Landry Bone cranked two homers and plated seven runs and Wintar MQuiston drove in a pair of runs.
The Bruins return home today to host Toronto.
Beavers fend off Panthers
CALCUTTA -- Buckeye Local rallied in the top of the seventh at Beaver Local on Monday but came up two runs shy as the host Beavers hung on for a 9-7 win.
Alexa Williams went 3 for 4 with two RBIs for the Panthers, while Isabella Hepburn went 2 for 3 with two RBis and both Josey Meddles and Morgan Richardson had multi-hit games for Buckeye Local.
Samantha Ankrom went six innings in the circle with one strikeout and just one walk.
