Panthers claw Toronto, 4-2

TORONTO -- The Buckeye Local baseball team topped Toronto on the road on Monday, 4-2, at the Knights Baseball Complex.

The win moves the Panthers to 3-2 on the season, while the Red Knights fall to 3-3.

Matt Scott tossed a complete game to earn the win on the mound for Buckeye Local, fanning three and walking just two.

Jacob Berry hit a double and two singles, while Skyler Ebright and Trey Hoover each recorded a pair of base hits for the Panthers, winners of their last three.

Evan Wolter, Zeb Kinsey and Nathan Brownfield each had two hits for the Knights.

Brownfield also went the distance for Toronto, striking out five in the loss.

Oak Glen comes back to top Wheeling Central

NEW MANCHESTER -- The Oak Glen baseball team erased a four-run deficit, scoring the last five unanswered runs in a 6-5 win over visiting Wheeling Central on Monday.

Chaise Patterson went the first five innings on the bump, striking out five, while Danny Bridges went the last two and earned the win.

After the Maroon Knights had opened a 5-1 lead in the top of the fourth, the Bears plated two in the bottom half, added one in the fifth and took the lead with two in the sixth.

In addition to getting the win on the hill, Bridges had two hits and an RBI, while Patterson plated three runs with two hits and Preston Cole knocked in a run.

Beaver tops Edison

in eight

RICHMOND -- The Edison baseball team scored in the bottom of the seventh to extend the game and force extra innings, but ultimately Beaver Local prevailed. 4-3, in eight innings.

The Wildcats took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second and led until the sixth when the Beavers tied it, then the visitors went up 3-2 in the top of the seventh before the Wildcats tied it in the home half.

Matt Parsons had a double for Edison, while Hunter Rothacker singled and had an RBI and Jadyn Clancey plated two runs while recording a hit.

MORRISTOWN -- Union Local picked up its first win of the season, knocking off a talented Weir High club, 7-3, on Monday.

Dylan Higgenbotham was the winning pitcher, working six innings. He also had a RBo single. Jake Toohey had an RBI double, while Billy Schumacher had two doubles and an RBI.

Luke Gillette had a double, single and RBI for the Red Riders. Trent Taflan had an RBI single.

Central breaks through against Madonna

STEUBENVILLE -- The Catholic Central softball broke open a close game in the fifth inning and won, 15-5, via the 10-run-rule.

After the Crusaders opened a 5-0 lead in the first, the Blue Dons battled back within 6-5 in the third, before Central plated two in the fourth and ended the game with a seven-run fifth inning.

Bella Zinno had three hits and four RBIs for the Crusaders, while Natalia Dunburg plated three runs with two doubles and a single and Giana Scugoza drove in four with a homer and a single.

Kylie Rowe's RBI single provided the final margin.

Jayda Jones got her second win of the season, striking out three.

For Madonna, Ally Laughlin tripled and had a pair of singles.

MINGO JUNCTION -- The Indian Creek softball team kept its strong start to the season going with a 6-1 win over Carrollton at home on Monday.

Carley Jo Penner went the distance in the circle, striking out four to earn the win, while knocking in two runs at the plate.

Trinity Taylor also plated a pair, while McKenna Scott tripled and Brooke Grant and Kiersten Dorsey each had a double.

The Redskins are now 4-0.

win over Beaver

RICHMOND--The Edison softball team topped Beaver Local on Monday, 10-3.

Savanna Ankrom had two hits and drove in two runs, while Wades had three hits, scored three times and drove in three runs.

Alayna Meadows got the win, pitching the first four innings and striking out three.

The Wildcats are now 4-3.

Park tops Brooke

WELLSBURG -- Makiyah Strothers homered and drove in four runs as Wheeling Park downed Brooke 10-1 on Monday.

Faith Randolph was strong at the plate for the Patriots with a single, a double and two RBI, while Shelby Crow and Lauren Nolte each recorded a hit and a RBI and Hayley Thompson added a double. Delaney Theiss struck out five in the win.

Angelina Lippoli homered for Brooke.
