Crusaders sweep Creek
STEUBENVILLE -- The Catholic Central volleyball team picked up a sweep of Indian Creek on Wednesday night at home inside the Mickey Barber Gymnasium, 25-21, 25-20, 25-22.
The Crusaders improve to 5-5 with the victory.
Leading the way for Catholic Central were Hailey Cherepko with six kills, five assists, three digs, an ace and eight points, Ava Marcino with four kills, nine assists, a block, five digs, two aces and 19 points, Lilly Balzano with five kills, an assist, nine digs, an ace and four points, Anna Aria with five kills, seven blocks, seven digs and nine points, Natalie Cherepko with 16 points, four kills, seven digs and six aces and Talia Marcino with 10 points.
Central hosts Wellsville on Monday.
Edison falls in five
ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- The Edison volleyball team dropped a five-set decision at St. C on Wednesday, 25-23, 22-25, 18-25, 25-23, 15-12.
For the Wildcats, Ellie Joynson had three digs and three points, Alexandra Ash recorded two blocks, 11 kills, six points and two aces, Hailey Teichman had seven digs, 10 points, three aces and 13 assists, Kendra Teichman had 15 digs, 10 points and three aces, Audrey Scott tallied 12 digs, 13 points, and an ace, Morgan Martin had four digs, six points and an ace. Olivia Huff had five blocks and 11 kills, Katie Fluharty had three blocks and two kills. and Rebecka Evans finished with two blocks, 10 kills, six digs, 12 points, seven aces and 21 assists.
Edison travels to Big Red for a tri with Oak Glen on Saturday.
GOLF
Creek tops Edison
The Indian Creek golf team picked up a 185-209 win over Edison on Wednesday.
Creek's Noah Tweedy and Olivia Gibas tied for the medalist with scores of 41, while Logan Kuczykowski fired a 51 and Tre Feist-Winland shot a 52.
Edison was led by Ryan Dinger's 48, while Luke Feralli fired a 49, Tristan Arnold shot a 54 and Aiden Ferguson shot a 58.
Big Red tops Brooke
STEUBENVILLE -- The Big Red gold team snuck past Brooke by 11 strokes on Tuesday at Steubenville Country Club, 170-181.
Bubby Reese was the match medalist with a 41 and sunk a 30-foot putt in the match.
Chris Elliott fired a 42 for Big Red, while Frankie Vostatek shot a 43 and Waylon Hayes finished with a 44.
Nick Cipoletti led Brooke with a 43, Colton Haught fied a 44 for the Bruins, Owen Petrella shot a 45 and Henry Anderson finished with a 49.
Big Red enters OVAC play today with a 14-5 record.
