RICHMOND -- Harrison Central broke the jinx against Edison.
For the third time this season, the Huskies ventured into Jefferson County, however, they were unable to come away with a win in their previous two visits as Big Red and Catholic Central each defeated Harrison Central by a goal.
This time, the Huskies scored early and often against the Wildcats as Harrison Central defeated Edison, 13-1, Thursday evening at the Edison Unified Sports Complex.
"I tell the girls before every game all I want is one goal," Harrison Central (3-3) head coach Mindy Madzia said. "When we scored that first goal, it became all about the seniors. We wanted all of the seniors to score goals tonight, and they did. All six seniors scored goals."
Angi Ferri finished with four goals and four assists to lead the way for the girls from Harrison Central. Also, Lily Gibbons netted two goals, Alina Williams and Hayden Elliott each tallied a goal and an assist and Lexi Smith, Isabel Yeager, Maddy Bender, Gracie Rogers and Collette Downs all collected a goal.
Smith, Downs, Rogers, Bender, Williams and Elliott are the seniors for the Huskies.
"We scored 40 goals last year, and this year we have 25 in six games," Madzia said.
Vanessa Dowdle did not make a save in goal for the visitors.
Amelia Collopy collected the lone goal for the Wildcats (0-4).
Starting goalkeeper Adali Reynolds recorded 24 saves for the hosts.
Harrison Central led 7-0 at halftime.
"My biggest thing now is to keep working on possession," Madzia said. "We want to get possession, and we want to maintain possession.
"We had nine different girls score goals tonight, and we had three girls assist on goals. We were able to get 19 of 20 girls into the game tonight."
Edison head coach Gregory Hofmeister was not available for comment.
Harrison Central is scheduled to play Ridgewood at 6 p.m. Tuesday on the road.
Edison is slated to play East Liverpool at 6 p.m. Thursday on the road.
