Toronto tops Monroe in preview

TORONTO -- The Toronto volleyball team won a preview of what will also be its OVAC semifinal matchup later this week when it swept Monroe Central on Saturday, 25-18, 25-19, 25-19.

The Red Knights, now 15-3, are the No. 1 seed in the Class 2A tournament and host the Seminoles, 12-7, on Tuesday in the conference tournament semifinals.

On Saturday, Hannah Dobbs tallied 25 kills, 21 digs, five blocks, two assists and an ace for the Red Knights, Andrea Reeves dished 30 assists, four kills, 14 digs and three blocks, Ashton Thomas had 15 blocks, three digs, two kills and an assist, Michelle Anderson recorded five kills, 16 digs, an assist, a block and an ace, Callie Anderson racked up five kills, 15 digs and an assist, Riley Fisher had 21 digs and an assist and Chloe Fisher tallied five blocks and two aces.

Edison falls to high-powered Trail

RICHMOND -- The Edison volleyball team hosted a tough opponent on Saturday in now 17-1 Buckeye Trail, winning a set, but ultimately fell in four, 25-22, 25-18, 20-25, 25-17.

For the Wildcats, Olivia Huff tallied 12 kills, three blocks and two digs, Rebecka Evans had 13 points, three aces, 24 assists, seven digs, a block and four kills, Hailey Teichman had 13 points, five aces, eight assists, 10 digs and six kills, Audrey Scott recorded 16 digs, Alexandra Ash had 10 kills, a block, four points and two aces and Kendra Teichman recorded 12 digs, six points and four aces.

Edison travels to top seed East Liverpool in OVAC semifinal action on Tuesday.

Brooke boys tie Morgantown

WELLSBURG -- The Brooke boys soccer team battled Morgantown to a 1-1 tie on Saturday.

Dylan Black scored for the Bruins, while Jeremy Gilchrist made seven saves in goal.

Brooke hosts Caldwell on Monday and travels to Big Red on Wednesday.

Weir girls edge Robert C. Byrd

WEIRTON -- The Weir High girls soccer team picked up a 2-1 win over visiting Robert C. Byrd on Saturday.

Liv Baker and Lexie Fayak each scored for the Red Riders, who improved to 11-2-2.

Baker and Madelyn Cramer each had an assist, while Rayna Hoover made eight saves in goal.

The Red Riders host Wheeling Park on Monday.
