Crusaders top the Panthers
CONNORVILLE -- Anna Arai knocked down a career high 25 points Wednesday as Catholic Central snapped its six-game losing streak with a 55-41 victory over Buckeye Local.
Theresa Kerker contributed 14 for the Crusaders who earned a sweep of their season series with the Panthers. Ellen Rhode collected a team-high 14 rebounds and Arai grabbed 10 to complete a double-double. Rhode also had nine steals and Jackie O'Karma dished out five assists.
Central led 16-10 after the opening quarter but Buckeye Local battled back to grab a 25-23 lead at the intermission. The visitors outscored their hosts 32-16 during the final 16 minutes.
Brynn McKeever and Pam Kandrach scored 17 each to pace the Panthers.
The Crusaders wrap up regular season play today with a home game against Frontier.
Edison falls on road
WELLSVILLE -- The Edison girls basketball team dropped a close decision, 39-37, at Wellsville on Wednesday.
Pam Johnson netted 19 to lead the Wildcats.
