Edison concludes the regular season
RICHMOND -- The Edison softball team dropped a 9-3 decision to John Glenn in the team's final regular season game on Friday.
Edison has already advanced to the Division III, East District tournament by winning its sectional last week. It takes on Barnesville Monday at Big Red.
On Friday, Becka Evans had an RBI and Katie Fluharty had eight strikeouts.
Edison also recognized its eight seniors for their final home game. They are Nicole Zullo, Anna Wadas, Audrey Scott, Holley Scott, Morgan Martin, Pam Johnson, Fluharty and Olivia Fankhauser.
Jefferson Christian wins two
MINGO JUNCTION -- The Jefferson County Christian School baseball team won a pair of games to open the Southwest Christian Athletic Conference championships on Friday.
The Royals first topped Nazareth Prep, 5-2. Ben Adams threw four scoreless innings and tripled and Mason Gump had a double.
JCC won its second game, 14-4, over Cornerstone Prep. Lee Gump did not allow an earned run in tossing five innings, Wyatt Hervey was 3 for 3 with two RBIs. Adams and Mason Gump each tripled.
The tournament continues Monday with the final at 5:30 p.m.
