Local softball teams on the Ohio side of the river found out when and where they will open tournament play during the East District draw on Sunday, while sectional tournaments begin on the West Virginia side this week.
OHIO
All three local teams in Division II are in the East 1 bracket.
Big Red is the No. 5 seed and will host No. 18 East Liverpool in its tournament opener in a sectional contest at 5 p.m. on May 10 at the Crimson Complex.
Indian Creek is the No. 7 seed and will travel to No. 4 New Philadelphia at 5 p.m. on May 10.
The winners of those two games meet on May 15.
In the same bracket, Harrison Central is the No. 11 seed and travels to No. 10 Martins Ferry at 5 p.m on May 10.
In Division III, Edison is the No. 2 seed and will host No. 14 Coshocton in a sectional semifinal at 5 p.m. on May 8.
Buckeye Local is the No. 13 seed and travels to No. 3 Barnesville at 5 p.m. on May 8.
In Division IV, Toronto is the No. 8 seed and travels to No. 5 Shenandoah at 5 p.m. on May 9 for a sectional contest.
WEST VIRGINIA
In Class A, Madonna is the No. 3 seed in its sectional tournament and opens by taking on No. 2 Magnolia on Tuesday.
In Class AA, Weir High is the No. 1 seed in the Region 1, Section 1 tournament and will host the winner of the best of three play in round between East Fairmont and Fairmont senior on either Tuesday or Wednesday to open its tournament play.
Oak Glen is the No. 2 seed and hosts No. 3 North Marion on Tuesday.
The tournament is double elimination.
In Class AAA, Brooke is the No. 4 seed in its section and travels to top-seed John Marshall at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday to open tournament play.
That tournament is also double elimination.
