Market Street Bridge to close
FOLLANSBEE -- The Market Street Bridge will be closed, and the W.Va. Route 2 spur near the bridge will have lane closures from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday for bridge maintenance.
Traffic will be maintained via the Veterans Memorial Bridge.
Traffic lanes to shift for bridge work
WEIRTON -- Traffic patterns on the Veterans Memorial Bridge will shift, both eastbound and westbound, beginning June 15 as part of ongoing bridge maintenance.
The lane shifts are scheduled to remain through Aug. 25.
Man charged for domestic incident
COLLIERS -- A Colliers man has been charged with domestic battery and interfering with emergency communications in connection with an incident on Friday.
The case against James V. Hall, 36, of 78 Decca Lane, is pending in Brooke County Magistrate Court.
Brooke County sheriff's deputies reported finding Hall in the area of St. John's Road and Elson Run while responding to a 911 call in which a man said his wife was suicidal before hanging up.
Deputies said when they arrived, Hall told them he and his wife heard a woman talking about suicide and he believed her to be in that area, but the officers weren't able to find her.
According to court documents, the sheriff's department was dispatched early the next day to Hall's home after a woman there called 911. The woman, who was known to Hall, said she had been trying to get away from him the previous day when he pushed her over a hillside near St. John's Road.
Deputies said she told them she called 911 because Hall had threatened her and that he hung up the phone before she could complete the call.
They said the woman had black eyes, a large wound to her back and scrapes and cuts to her arms and legs.
Wellsburg Council meeting moved
WELLSBURG -- Because the city's general election is on Tuesday, the next regular Wellsburg Council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. June 14 at City Hall.
