Post 33 closes regular season with a big win

CAMBRIDGE -- The Jefferson County Post 33 baseball team got its offense going in a big way on Wednesday to close the regular season victorious.

After falling behind early, Jefferson County used three big innings to take a 17-10 victory on the road at Cambridge Post 84.

Cambridge jumped ahead 4-1 in the bottom of the first inning but Jefferson County scored five each in the second and third and added six more runs in the fifth to pull away for good.

Aydan Manning had two hits and three RBIs, while Silas Hyde and Hakim Edwards each drove in a pair of runs for Jefferson County.

Eli Fayak tossed four innings striking out two, Edwards fired two innings with one punchout and Teddy Glyptis fired the final frame with a strikeout.

Gavin and Landon Pownall, Hyde, Sal Barcalow, Zach Smith, Landon Crosier, Glyptis and Fayak each had base hits for Post 33, which finished with 12 hits in the game.

The win closes the regular season portion of Jefferson County's schedule with a mark of 24-8.

Post 33 begins play in the Ohio American Legion district tournament in New Philadelphia on Saturday.
