Big Red golf team edges Buckeye Local
RAYLAND -- The Big Red golf team edged Buckeye Local by six strokes in a meeting of two of the area's best teams, 163-169, Monday at Bec-Wood.
The win improves Big Red's record to 24-1, while it was the Panthers' first dual loss in 17 outings this season.
Nick Nurczyk was the medalist with a 39, followed by Christopher Elliott with a 41, Bubby Reese with a 42 and Waylon Hayes with a 43.
For the Panthers, Jacob Berry and Preston Lindsay each shot 41s while Kamden Kinyo fired a 42 and Gavyn Romanyak turned in a 45.

Red Knights get big win
TORONTO -- It's not usual that the Wellsville volleyball team falls to non-league opponents in Div. IV, but the Toronto Red Knights are having a memorable undefeated start to the season.
The Red Knights downed the state-ranked Tigers in a thriller in five sets 23-25, 25-15, 25-16, 21-25, 16-14 on Monday.
Wellsville had match-point at 14-13 in the final set but Toronto turned it on to get the win and move to 8-0.
Wellsville, ranked 13th in the Div. IV state coaches volleyball poll, falls to 6-2 with the other loss coming against returning Div. II state semifinalist Union Local.
For the Red Knights, Hannah Dobbs had 40 kills, 37 digs and two blocks, Andrea Reeves tallied 55 assists and 17 digs, Michelle Anderson recorded 63 digs and four assists, Ashton Thomas finished with nine blocks, five kills, six digs and three aces, Callie Anderson recorded 12 kills, four digs and two aces, Riley Fisher tallied 14 digs and two aces and Gracee Rex 15 digs.
